National Live Creative Day!


Yesterday was National Live Creative Day!  


I did get to spend a bit of time in my craft room creating this card.  I'm loving fall colors...and that 70's Retro palette!  You may have seen another card made with the set Round About Messages...actually, the same layout, just different colors and papers.  And can we give a shout-out to the sleeper hit Hearth & Home Designer Series Paper!  Multiple sheets of the same pattern!  HUGE variety of squares...just cut the 4x4 or 3x3 squares as an element for your project!  And a full neutral pattern B-side!

This one's a pretty quick card to put together, and scraps work great for the banner and accent strip!  Keep this sketch on hand as a resource when you sit down to be CREATIVE!

Happy SUMMER! Make a SPLASH card!

 


Same sketch, new card!

Need a card idea quickly?  Use a SKETCH (a.k.a. card template)!  I wanted to celebrate the first day of summer, but was short on time to design.  So why not copy the last card template as inspiration?

This time I used the Splash & Relax Bundle paired with the Everyday Essentials Designer Series Paper.  A little bit of stamping, some die-cutting, and extra sparkles and this card sure makes a splash!

While the inner tube is stamped with Bubble Bath and Fresh Freesia ink, the other fun elements are die-cut from the versatile Everyday Essentials DSP...a great way to use scraps if I must say!  And when you need some color inspiration, start with some Designer Series Paper and use those colors as your guide.

Suite Sketch for Velvet Meadow!

 

Sometimes the simplest sketches create the prettiest cards!


For this card, I used Velvet Meadow Designer Series Paper for the background and as the 3” x 4” layer to anchor my sentiment and floral images. This one is such an easy layout to recreate with any favorite paper in your stash!  Pro TIP: pair a busy pattern with one that is subtle so they don’t compete!

And can we talk about this paper for a minute? The Velvet Meadow DSP has gorgeous velvet accents already built into the design. It adds beautiful TEXTURE and dimension without any extra work!  The question is...can you feel it through the screen? 😍


I love how the soft florals pop against the Peaceful Pine banner and how this simple sketch lets the paper do most of the work.  I fussy-cut those flowers from the DSP!  And another TIP: Use those images that are cut off on the edges of your paper!  Just strategically place the straight edge on your project!

Save this sketch for your next crafting session and let me know…are you a fan of textured paper?  You know I LOVE DSP and when it has something SPECIAL added, it totally ROCKS!
