Paper Crafting Blog Hop - Welcoming Window

Welcome to the Paper Crafting Blog Hop featuring Birthday Projects! Our March 2021 blog hop includes Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrators from around the world!  Talented Demonstrators from all over the globe including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia are participating!  Get ready to be wowed by a variety of creative projects and design styles!  You may have arrived from Maureen's blog.  She had a great project!

My project showcases the Welcoming Window stamp set and coordinating Window Flower Box Dies.  Spring was in the air here in the Chicago area last week and the windows were open to welcome in some fresh air.  We call it Fool's Spring since we are back to winter temps and more snow on the ground. When I first saw this bundle I knew I wanted to create a card with a Mediterranean feel and what better time to do so since I needed some warm thoughts after the weather turned this week.

The Painted Texture Embossing Folder works great to create the "plastered" backdrop for the window.  I used the Blending Brushes with Cinnamon Cider ink to make the wood look like it was stained.  The Vellum is backed by a piece of Pool Party cardstock and I also added some Wink of Stella to the vellum window panes to add some sparkle.

You can see below how the addition of ink to the embossed shutter really steps up the plain cardstock...it gives it a richness and depth of color.

And the Birthday Greeting along with some bright flowers work beautifully on the inside of the card.

Butterfly Pop-Up Card

Tonight during my Tuesday Night Stampin' Club Facebook LIVE I made a fun fold card....a V-fold Pop Up Card!  A Demonstrator friend of mine posted a V-fold card this morning and I knew right when I saw it that I had to make one of these pop-up cards using the Butterfly Brillance Collection!

You can watch the replay below to see how I made the card and some tips on scoring with your bone folder and cutting your Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper.  Keep on reading for instructions and supplies used.

HOW TO MAKE A V-FOLD POP-UP CARD

  1. Start with a Basic White Card Base cut at 8" x 5-1/4"
  2. Score at 4" to fold the card in half.
  3. Mark 2" down from the top on the center score line.
  4. Use a ruler to line up the top corner and center mark 2" down and score with a bone folder.  Use a foam mat underneath to get a deep score line.
  5. Do the same from the other top corner to the center score line mark.
  6. Fold on the score lines to create a V that will fold into the card as shown below.
  7. Adhere an element to the right side of the center fold taking care that it will fit inside of the card.

I absolutely LOVE the Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper and it is only available until May 3 or while supplies last!  A circle punched out of the Natural Touch Specialty Paper really adds a nice organic feeling to the card.  That too is exclusive to the Butterfly Bouquet Promotion from now until May 3.

  Craft for a Cause!

Would you like to help with my next Crafting for a Cause initiative?  Your participation will help me in raising funds to plant wildflowers in The Woodland Walk at Raven Glen Forest Preserve, which is a specified quarter-mile walk that is dedicated to all children and siblings who have left us too soon.  The Northern Lake County Chapter of The Compassionate Friends, in partnership with the Lake County Forest Preserve District, is working toward restoring the wooded walk with trees, shrubs, flowers, and benches.  For each planting that is dedicated to an individual, an engraved nameplate will be added to the plaque " Our Children Remembered".  My goal is to raise enough funds to have five nameplates for the five families that I personally know who have lost a little angel.

When you purchase any of the items from the Butterfly Brillance Collection (or any current Butterfly stamp set/punch/die), I will donate 20% of the sale to the Woodland Walk Memorial. Scroll down to see the items available and please use the Host Code shown here.

Bright Pink Sweet Strawberries

In honor of my Zeta sisters who helped me raise money for my BrightPink.org fundraiser and ZetaDay2021, I stamped a thank you card featuring the Sweet Strawberry Bundle during last night's Tuesday Night Stampin' Club Facebook LIVE.  I am so grateful to everyone who participated and donated to this fundraiser in honor of my real sister who we lost a year ago to breast cancer.

My inspiration came from the Flirty Flamingo card straight from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog.  I changed the card stock to a modern turquoise blue...Pool Party...to honor one of the ZTA colors. And the strawberries are a much-loved symbol of our fraternity.

The Sweet Strawberry Bundle is so popular that the Strawberry Builder Punch has sold out and we're waiting on more to come...probably the beginning of April...which is still before strawberry season!  Let me know if you'd like to be on the list to be notified when it is back in stock!  The Sweet Strawberry stamp set is still available to order now.
